The Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame (CMHF) has released details for their upcoming 8th Annual Celebration of Speed track day. This year’s event will take place on Monday, August 6th at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park race track, formerly known as Mosport, which is located just north of Bowmanville, Ontario, about one hour north-east of Toronto.

All car enthusiasts and the general public are welcomed to participate and are encouraged to go for the “Ride of their Life” in a variety of exciting cars along with experienced and professional race car drivers. The event will also provide the opportunity for 50 experienced track day participants to enjoy a full day of high-speed action, driving their own cars on the legendary ‘Mosport’ Grand Prix circuit.

All proceeds generated from the 2018 Celebration of Speed will help support the Canadian Motorsport Heritage Foundation which operates the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame (CMHF.ca). Founded in 1993, the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame is a charitable organization that works tirelessly to recognize the achievements of those individuals and institutions that have realized significant accomplishments and have made outstanding contributions to motorsport in Canada by preserving, recording and displaying to the widest possible audience via virtual format, the appropriate information, materials and artifacts relative to them

RIDE-ALONG TICKET PRICING

Ride-Along tickets are available to anyone 10 years of age and older. A 4 session ticket can be bought online at www.cmhf.ca for $110.00. Each lapping session consists of three laps in the car of the ride-along participant’s choice, subject to availability. On the day of the event, participant registration opens at 8 am at the Ride-Along tent in pit lane. On track activities will run from 9am to 5pm, rain or shine. Helmets for participants will be provided free of charge.

Forty high performance cars are expected to be available for Ride Along participants including: Alfa Romeo Giulia, Ariel Atom, Audi R8 GT, Audi RS3, BMW 2002, BMW M3, BMW M4, Camaro’s, Corvette’s, Dodge Viper ACR, Ferrari 458, Kia Stinger, McLaren MC 12C GT race car, Mercedes-AMG GT C, Mercedes-AMG SLS, Mustang Shelby GT350R, Mustang Cobra SVT, Porsche 911 GT2, Porsche 911 GT3, Porsche 911 Ruf Turbo, Porsche Cayman GT4, Porsche Cayman R, Porsche Cayman S, Porsche Panamera Turbo S, Volkswagen Golf GTI track car (subject to change).

TRACK DAY PRICING

Intermediate and Advanced drivers can participate in the track day portion of the event at a cost of $400 each (no HST will be added to that price). The event is capped at 50 drivers. Track Day participants can register online at the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame site (cmhf.ca). On the day of the event, registration for the Track Day opens at 8 am in the pit garage. There will not be any novice sessions at this event so only intermediate and experienced skill level drivers can participate.

Some unique participants at this year’s event include 90 year old grandmother Maire Hollo will be fulfilling one of her bucket list dreams of being a passenger on a race track travelling at speeds in excess of 200 km/h. Maire’s bucket list adventure has been chronicled by the CBC: Woman, 88, soaring through bucket list, one daring feat at a time. Also in attendance will be Anthony Lue, an aspiring Paralympian who is trying to turn Tragedy into Triumph. Anthony is attempting to qualify for the men’s Canadian cycling team that will compete in the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo.
