All the Diesel-Powered Cars Available in Canada
They are still out there.

If you’re in the market for a new diesel-powered car or SUV in Canada, the offerings these days are pretty slim.
While diesel cars remain widely available in many parts of the world, particularly in Europe, the inroads they were making in North America came to a screeching halt when the Volkswagen emission cheating scandal involving its diesel cars broke in September 2015.
The retreat was swift. Diesel cars began to disappear from dealer lots almost immediately, and not just from brands owned by Volkswagen. Mercedes-Benz has also stopped selling diesels in North America, and the scandal has likely altered the product plans of other manufacturers as well. The risk of being tarred by negative publicity, justified or not, simply isn’t worth it for many global automakers.
Nearly three years later, as Volkswagen valiantly attempts to put the debacle behind it by settling various class action lawsuits in both Canada and the U.S., echoes of the scandal remain, with many manufacturers declining to bring diesel cars to North America as a result.
Compiled below (in alphabetical order) is a list of new cars and SUVs sold in Canada with a diesel option.
Note: The base MSRP listed applies to diesel models only. The list does not include light trucks, which also offer several diesel options.
