10 Best Porsche Taycan Configurator Options

To make your Taycan a little more special.

Porsche’s electric Taycan represents a massive change in the company’s lineup. Maybe even a bigger one than the move to front-engined cars way back when. But while the powertrain has changed, what hasn’t changed is Porsche’s ability to extract maximum dollars for maximum customization. So we’ve taken a look at the Taycan configurator to find some of the best options, and while you can’t yet pick the colour of your air vents, or have them covered in leather, there are still plenty of ways to make your Taycan a little more special. Here are some of the best.

Paint Choices

One of the largest surprises on the options list is what won’t cost you. Want a 911 Carerra in blue? Navy will cost you $950, Miami Blue $3,730. And if you want green, it’s that same $3,730. White, black, red, and yellow are the only free choices. The same blues are free on the Taycan, as is the stunning Mamba Green metallic. There are nine free colours, in fact, though obviously free is a bit relative here.

Electric Sport Sound

Forget the fake engine noise that gas cars are now offering, or the sound like a GT-R that Renault offered a few years back. This EV needs a special EV sound. Porsche’s taken the electric motor whine and made it deeper, louder, and more appealing. Then sold it to you as the $580 Electric Sport Sound option. And yes, you do, most definitely want it

Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake System

Electric vehicles barely use their brakes. Even on the track, the Taycan has such massive regeneration that it’ll put you hard into your seatbelt without the calipers clamping at all. But Porsche will sell you the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake system with fancy pads and rotors. That you’ll need to replace every six years just because they’re old.

It’s the best of the 1999 customization options. Blue headlights. Well, Porsche will put “Tinted LED-Matrix Headlights Glacier Iceblue including Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus” lights. Which is a really, really long way of saying that the Taycan can come with blue headlights.

Porsche Pocket

Need a little extra storage? Well, Porsche will add a storage tray beside the centre console for you. And a matching one on the transmission tunnel (guys, you need a new name for that one, there’s no gearbox there) along with a bag hook in the boot. For just $310.

Smoker’s Package

Spent too much on the $1,280 passenger-side infotainment screen? This next one is a bit of a bargain that might get your budget back on track. Want an ashtray for the front of the two Taycan cupholders? Porsche will take your ashes away for free. That one’s no charge.

Taycan Your Luggage

With a trunk in the front and the back, the Taycan offers up 447 L of cargo space. It’s an impressive figure. If you want to make the most of it, Porsche will sell you a four-piece luggage set. A handy bag, small and large weekenders, and a garment bag. Black leather with silver decorative stitching. For just $7,481.

Detailing Kit

You’ve just spent about $200,000 on your Taycan, so you’re probably going to take it somewhere for a wash. Right? Well, Porsche has something that might make you want to do it yourself. It’s a full set of detailing equipment including polishes, cleaners, a Porsche sponge, and three of the company’s $26 microfibre cloths. Housed in a Rimowa wheeled briefcase. The kit is $1,339.

Retractable Charging Door

Tired of stupid charging doors that stick out of your car? Yeah, what an eyesore. It’s an old-fashioned gas door and it has no place on your EV. So tick the box for Porsche’s power charge port cover. Wave your hand and it retracts up into the fender. So you don’t have an ugly open door waving in the breeze. It’ll even break a centimetre of ice when things get chilly, then when you unplug it drops back into place. This is the future of charge doors, and you know you want it.

Leather Manual Folder and Key

Remember the owner’s manual? You’ve probably never bothered reading one. At least not in years, and it seems like some new cars don’t even come with one. Instead, they give you a CD and a quick reference guide. Well, Porsche will put yours in a leather sleeve for a mere $590, should you want that. Want your Taycan’s key in a leather pouch? It comes with a sweet, sweet carabiner that totally doesn’t make it all look like some sort of horrible late ’90s phone belt clip. And it comes in the same colour as your interior. For just $725.
