1. Drive

Like a really bad job interview, this film is short on both dialogue and runtime (90 minutes). But unlike your “conversation” with human resources at Home Depot, this works to the film’s advantage.

Drive stars Ryan (Yummy) Gosling as an unnamed enigmatic Hollywood stuntman and mechanic who moonlights as a getaway driver for criminals. The “driver” eventually finds trouble when he helps out his neighbour and love interest. Also featuring Carey Mulligan, Bryan Cranston and Oscar Isaac, the soundtrack of this film is more amazing than Spiderman. Seriously, download and listen to it on your drive to work.

2. The Italian Job – 1969 Release

At its core, The Italian Job is a heist film about a British crook’s (played by Michael Caine) plan to pull of one of the biggest gold scores in history. It’s a bit more complicated than that but you already knew that because you’ve seen it. Oh no? Maybe you’ve seen the remake featuring Mark Wahlberg, Ed Norton and Charlize Theron? The original film featured Mini Coopers in the iconic car chase scenes; even the remake paid homage to the iconic vehicles by utilizing the updated models instead of some other fuel-guzzling monster.

3. Bullitt

Steven McQueen, in one of his most famous roles, plays tough as nails police Lieutenants Frank Bullitt. When a pair of hit men ambushes and mortally wounds his prized mafia informant, all while under protective custody, Bullitt decides to investigate what happened. This leads to one of the greatest car movie chase scenes in the history of film. McQueen’s unaccredited costar, a 1968 Ford Mustang 390 GT races 1968 Dodge Charger R/T in a scene that gear heads never forget.

4. The Fast and Furious

In 2001, you may have noticed an influx of loud exhaust pipes on Honda Civics, undercar LED lighting kits and a noticeable amount of guys driving their parents’ car with sleeveless shirts pretending to be Dominic Toretto.

That’s because The Fast And Furious put car culture on the public conscious. Whether it was the 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse or 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, this movie made you want to quit whatever you were doing and go to your local Tim Horton’s to see what the car enthusiasts were up to. Which evidently wasn’t much. The influence and popularity of this car movie has been so strong that the 8^th instalment of the film is currently being worked on.

5. The Transporter - 2002

Watching a Jason Statham film is like eating at Pizza Hut three days in a row: people will judge you and your stomach will hurt, but it doesn’t matter because you like it so much. The same can be said about the Jason Statham movie The Transporter.

Statham stars as Frank Martin, a professional freelance courier. His normal routine gets derailed when he breaks one of his own three rules: Never open the package. Driving a 1998 BMW E38 735i, Martin pulls off some incredible vehicular ballet. The car action and a shirtless Statham is known to turn on anyone watching.

6. Mad Max: Fury Road

Arguably one of the best car films in recent years, this movie’s got more action than Homecoming at high school.

A blend of practical and special effects make this a riveting visual beauty to behold. At its core the film is about a woman rebelling against a tyrannical ruler by aiding his prisoner-wives escape in a post apocalyptic world. The film is mostly a continuous chase scene, which is a car lover’s wet dream. Oh yeah, Tom Hardy (aka BANE) and Charlize Theron (the love of my life) both star.
