Volvo Announces Canadian Pricing for All-Electric XC40 Recharge
The XC40 Recharge will reach 100 km in just under five seconds and is predicted to be able to cover 335 km on a full charge.
Volvo have announced that its first fully-electric vehicle – the XC40 Recharge – will be priced at $64,950 when it goes on sale in dealerships later this year.
The XC40 Recharge will be powered by a 78-kilowatt-hour battery pack that will supply enough power for the electric motors to produce 402 hp and 486 lb-ft of torque. The XC40 Recharge will reach 100 km in just under five seconds and is predicted to be able to cover 335 km on a full charge. The battery can be charged to 80 per cent in 40 minutes when using a 150kW DC fast charger. This compact SUV will also have all-wheel drive capabilities.
Another first for Volvo with the XC40 Recharge is the integration of an Android infotainment system. Volvo teamed up with Google to enhance the in-cabin experience with embedded Google technology and services that include Google Maps and Google Store.
The XC40 Recharge will also be the first Volvo to be able to receive larger operating system downloads over the air. That will keep the XC40 Recharge current and up-to-date throughout its lifetime.
The XC40 Recharge will come with an extensive list of safety features and technologies that include: Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Steer Assist, Cross Traffic Alert with Autobrake and Active Bending LED headlights. Also standard in the Recharge will be a laminated panoramic sunroof, 19-inch alloy wheels, 19-inch drivers instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch infotainment touch screen.
Some available options include; metallic paint ($900), Lava carpet ($150), 13 Speaker Haman Kardon sound system ($1,250) and to pre-heat or cool the cabin before use – an energy saving heat pump ($450).
Volvo has taken advantage of the extra space gained by the elimination of the combustion engine to add more storage space throughout the cabin, as well as the addition of a “frunk” – a storage space under the hood.
To ensure that there will be ample places to be able to charge the XC40 Recharge, Volvo Car Canada Ltd. has joined forces with ChargePoint – one of the largest charging networks available in North America. This collaboration will allow XC40 Recharge owners access to ChargePoints’ 115,000 charging stations worldwide.
All new owners will also be given the option of purchasing a ChargePoint personal home charger when purchasing the XC40 Recharge.
