Toyota introduces the all-new 2016 Tacoma and Tundra TRD Pro

2016 Toyota Tacoma

The Tacoma is all-new for 2016 offering serious capability for adventures – whether on road or off. New available features include Crawl Control and Multi-Terrain Select, a locking rear differential, GoPro® camera mount and Qi wireless charging.

Introduced in 1995, the Tacoma is now entering its third generation. The Tacoma starts at $28,345 and is available in five trims; base SR, mid-level SR5, TRD Off Road, TRD Sport and range topping Limited. It is also offered in Access Cab and Double Cab configurations with long or short bed sizes.

The two engine options are a 2.7L 4 cylinder producing 159 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission or 5-speed manual. Towing capacity is 3,500 lb. The 3.5L V6 delivers 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque with a towing capacity of up to 6,500 lb; its advanced first-in-segment Atkinson Cycle D-4S V6 engine was awarded the 2016 Best New Innovation Technology award from the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). This engine will be offered with new automatic and manual transmissions, both having 6 speeds.

2016 Toyota Tundra

The Tundra is Toyota's full-size pickup truck available in multiple configurations; five trim levels and two engine choices. Built in San Antonio Texas it is also designed and engineered in North America.



Tundra debuted in 2000 and is now in its second generation. 2014 saw a major refresh to the exterior and interior including a new more chiseled appearance, and class-up interior refinements. Under the hood is where it counts, and the i-FORCE 4.6L 8 Cylinder power has been increased to 310 hp and 327 lb-ft of torque. The powerful i-FORCE 5.7L V8 boasts 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque. Regular, Double Cab, and CrewMax models are available in 4x2 and 4x4 versions to ensure there's a Tundra to suit all requirements and budget.

For the serious off-roader Toyota has introduced the Tundra TRD Pro, offered on both Double Cab and Access Cab. Featuring a TRD remote reservoir suspension kit, TRD performance tailpipes, dual exhaust, TRD skid plate, and 18” black alloy wheels along with a removable, locking, easy lower-and-lift tailgate. Add a towing capability of 9,800 lb for the CrewMax and 9899lbs for the Access Cab, a factory-installed trailer brake controller and towing package and the Tundra TRD Pro is truly outfitted to handle anything thrown its way.
