Pirelli recently launched a major assault in the Battle of the Bling, unveiling the world’s first 30-inch, ultra-high-performance tire for light trucks and SUVs. The new 315/30R30 Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico uses an exclusive “Double Z” tread design for maximum traction (and style) in any condition. Unveiled in New York earlier this year, the tires were mounted on chrome TIS Wheels and fitted to a Hummer H2 belonging to pro skate boarder Bam Margera. Pirelli said the wheel and tire package stickered for just under $150,000. Pirelli occasionally makes small runs of specialized high-performance tires at its Rome, Georgia, manufacturing facility. According to Pirelli, now that 22-inch tires can almost be considered normal, the new Scorpion Zero Asimmetricos are “he haute couture of truck tires.”
