Toyota must be a bit miffed at the people from Pontiac these days.

The General Motors division has just released a photo of its redesigned 2009 Vibe hatchback, which is built on a similar platform to the soon-to-be-seen ’09 Matrix from Toyota.

The new Matrix, along with Toyota’s Corolla replacement, was due to be unveiled at the huge Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas at month-end.

While the Vibe won’t be seen in public until the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, the release of this photo gives us a pretty good idea of what the Matrix will look like.

Due in dealerships early next year, Pontiac said the new Vibe range will include the return of the performance-oriented GT model (see photo) and an all-wheel-drive version too.
