Eye Candy: 1970 Cadillac DeVille convertible
There's just something about the old-school Cadillacs.
The car: 1970 Cadillac DeVille
The owner: Gary Shapiro, North York
The Story: There’s just something about the old-school Cadillacs. They exude the kind of silver screen glam new cars can’t even begin to understand. Gary Shapiro fell under their spell when his father, Murray Shapiro, bought a 1970 Cadillac DeVille in 1970, the last production year of the full-size, six- passenger convertibles.
Gary never forgot that Caddy, and when his father passed away, he honoured his memory by buying a car his dad would have loved: this ethereally beautiful 1970 Deville convertible. Previously owned by Budweiser’s northeast U.S.A. distributor, Gary’s Cadillac is a pristine, a 49,000 mile car with an $80,000 restoration.
Gary loves the fact that the car hearkens back to the day when Cadillacs were “the king of the road, considered to be one of the finest (vehicles) in existence.”
