The Car: 1965 Beaumont Sport Deluxe
The Owner: Steve Karch, Regina, Sask.
The Story: You don’t see too many of these beefy beauties around, ” it’s one of just 371 ever built ” but in Regina, Saskatchewan, this 1965 Beaumont Sport Deluxe is a thrilling regular sight in warm weather. Steve Karch bought the car in 1995, and it’s one of his regular daily drivers in the summer time. (He also owns a beautiful ’79 Camaro, also shown below.)
“I’ve had several engines in this car,” Karch says, “the current one being, an EZ EFI fuel injected Tunnel Ram, AFR headed 406 full roller that makes 560 hp.”
The transmission is a Liberty Faceplated TKO600 that pulls lightning fast shifts with a Center Force clutch and the diff houses 4:10 gears. The exhaust consists of 1 3/4″ ceramic coated headers, 3″ straight pipes to 3″ Ultraflows that dump at the axle. Karch runs MT Drag Radials on the back on steel rims and MT SR skinnies on DragLites up front.
You can imagine what such a machine sounds like, and if you can’t, take a cue from its nickname.
“I don’t have personally have a nickname for the car,” Karch says. “But my very gracious and patient neighbours have nicknamed it ‘Loud Thang.’ ”
