In Chi-town earlier this year, Dodge debuted its latest high-performance product, the 300-hp Caliber SRT4. That’s 85 more horses than produced by the SRT-eed Dodge SX 2.0, and a very nice number from a four-cylinder powerplant — or even a V8! Caliber SRT4 can scamper from zero to 96 km/h in less than six seconds. Tuned by the folks at the Chrysler Group’s Street and Racing Technology arm, the cranked-up Caliber uses a turbocharged, better breathing version of all-new four-cylinder “World Engine,” producing 260 lb-ft of torque and mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Cosmetically, there are 19-inch wheels all ’round, a new front fascia with ducts that direct air to cool the brakes and a functional hood scoop. Out back, there’s a 3.5-inch exhaust and a rear spoiler tuned for downforce. The Caliber SRT4’s interior also follows its predecessor, with sport seats, rubber-studded aluminum pedals and a separate boost gauge.
