Canadian International AutoShow Sets New Attendance Mark
Record crowds at the 2017 CIAS show — for the second year in a row
TORONTO, Ont. — Driven by a global premiere, a global auto show debut and a diverse and intriguing roster of cars, trucks, SUVs and concept vehicles — both new and classic — the 2017 Canadian International AutoShow has posted its best year ever — for the second year in a row.
After the show’s 10-day run, 339,590 people came to the Metro Toronto Convention Centre for the AutoShow, eclipsing the old record of 320,000 set just last year.
“We have worked hard to create a show that not only showcases the latest vehicles and trends in the industry, but also celebrates what we call a Total Automotive Experience,” says Jason Campbell, General Manager of the AutoShow. “With several unique and exciting features as part of our Show, we have been able to attract new and diverse crowds, which has helped make it both a great social and shopping experience.”
The 2017 AutoShow started strong, with Media Preview Day launched with a guest appearance by Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer and the North American unveiling — and first-ever auto show appearance — of the stunning Aston Martin AM-RB 001 hypercar concept. That was followed shortly after with Hyundai staging the world premier of its all-new 2018 Accent — the first global premiere in the history of the Canadian International AutoShow. With the Jaguar F-Type 400 Sport making its North American premiere and 38 other vehicles with a Canadian premiere, the 2017 edition of the AutoShow had strong momentum coming out of the gate, which translated into five straight days of record attendance.
