A cement truck barreling down the highway narrowly escapes a sure tragedy when a minivan suddenly brakes on the highway after running over some debris. It is not clear the actual speed the vehicle was traveling but even at 100km/h it would be hard to stop any vehicle, let alone a cement truck in 5 seconds flat.

The cement truck driver amazingly maneuvers around the stopped vehicle, preventing what could have been a massive and fatal accident.

If you do spot debris on the highway and it is unavoidable, please remember that suddenly slamming on your brakes is not a safe practice when driving at high speeds.

The driver’s handbook says to “check your mirrors, signal, shoulder check and pull over onto the nearest shoulder as quickly and safely as possible. Slow down, put on your emergency flashers and stop on the shoulder as far right as possible.”

The best plan of action is to always be aware of your surroundings and keep your eyes on the road. Drive Safe.
