North American debut of the 2020 R8
NEW YORK, NY: Audi came to this year’s New York Auto International Auto Show with the North American debut of the 2020 R8, limited edition R8 V10 Decennium and TT RS Coupe.
All R8 models are claimed to have a top track speed of at least 200 mph thanks to its 5.2-litre V10 engine producing 562 hp and 406 lb/ft of torque with a 0-60 mph time of 3.4 seconds.
The R8 V10 Performance Coupe and Spyder up that to 602 hp and 413 lb/ft of torque.
A seven-speed S Tronic dual clutch automatic transmission is standard as is quattro all-wheel-drive.
Styling on the R8 model has been refreshed with an updated front bumper that includes a new honeycomb grille with R8 badge, front spoiler lip, and lateral air intakes. The updated rear bumper continues with honeycomb air outlets, oval exhaust pipes, and a new rear diffuser.
The headlights have been darkened and the rocker panel has been redesigned and includes an inlay. On the V10 model, the lower trim is finished in high-gloss black, and on the V10 Performance model, the lower trim is finished in titanium colour with the option to select carbon fibre.
The ceramic brakes on the V10 Performance models are now also available in red along with the standard gray.
The V10 Decennium celebrates 10 years of the 10-cylinder engine with Audi strictly limiting production to 222 units worldwide.
Offered only in Coupe form, the front spoiler, the side sills and the diffuser are painted in gloss black, supplemented by black Audi rings and badges on the exterior. The side blades, rear wings, and the exterior mirror housings are made from gloss carbon fibre.
It is powered by the 602 hp version of the V10 with a 0-60 mph time of 3.2 seconds and a top track speed of 205 mph.
The refreshed 2019 TT RS features the model’s most aggressive look yet with matte black mesh grille and available in seven colours with owners being able to customize the TT even further.
Full LED headlights with LED daytime running lights and LED taillights with dynamic rear turn signals are all standard. Additionally, the TT RS offers available OLED (organic light-emitting diode) rear taillights in a 3D design.
A 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine provides 394 hp and 354 lb/ft of torque for a 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds with a seven-speed S Tronic dual clutch automatic transmission featuring launch control.
Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive is standard and can send nearly 100 per cent of torque to the rear wheels.
