Good ratings in all five crashworthiness tests as well as a good rating for LED headlights has helped the all-new 2018 Lincoln Continental qualify for a coveted Top Safety Pick+ award from the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The Continental’s front crash prevention system earns a superior rating.
When equipped with the system, the car avoided collisions in IIHS track tests at 12 mph and 25 mph. The system also has a forward collision warning component that meets National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) criteria.
In addition, the
Continental’s LED projector headlights earn a good rating, providing ample lighting on a straightaway and most kinds of curves.
They can be obtained with high-beam assist, a feature that automatically switches between high beams and low beams, depending on the presence of other vehicles.
Vehicles qualify for a Top Safety Pick+ award if they have good ratings from IIHS in five crashworthiness tests — small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints — and an available front crash prevention system that earns a superior or advanced rating and good or acceptable headlights.
