The 2015-2016 NHL season is underway and we have decided to take a look at what NHL stars are driving! Some of the richest athletes in the world are professional hockey players but although they are wealthy, not all of them are flashy. Here are 9 NHL players and their cars:

9. Montreal Canadiens’ Carey Price – Ford F150

Carey Price is the perfect example of owning a car that matches your personality. In April(2015), the Habs goalie was interviewed by CBC beside his Ford F150 pick-up truck. He told Peter Mansbridge that he loves fishing and hunting which is why he drives big pickup trucks. He said he has always driven pick-ups and can’t remember driving anything else.

8. Tampa Bay Lightning’ Steven Stamkos – Fisker Karma Hybrid

Stamkos needs more than just a new contract this year… the captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning purchased his rechargeable hybrid 2012 Fisker Karma a few years ago. We appreciate his initiative to be environmentally conscious, however Fisker went under in 2014. He might want to consider selling it, while it still gets some interest, and buying a Tesla instead.

7. Pittsburgh Penguins’ Evgeni Malkin – Porsche Cayenne

Two things we know for sure about Malkin: He loves to “Geno” and he loves white Porsches. A few years ago Malkin was spotted driving a white Porsche 911 Turbo. A bit more recently, in 2013, he posted a picture on Instagram of his 2013 Porsche Cayenne… also white. The Cayenne is probably better for work.

6. Anaheim Mighty Ducks’ Ryan Getzlaf – Mercedes-Benz S63

Earlier this year a story was released about Ryan Getzlaf meeting one of his biggest and most inspiring fans. At the beginning of the story, writer Dan Robson paints a picture of the Ducks captain for readers when he describes Getzlaf as he was getting into his car. Robson talks about how Ryan was putting his child’s car seat in the back of his white Mercedes S63. This is exactly how we see Getzlaf; a nice family man who is cool and classy like an S63.

5. Washington Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin – Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG

Ovi drives a custom painted matte blue 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG. When he purchased the car he initially bought it in a matte black colour but got sick of it after a few years and painted it matte blue instead.  Interesting, considering the guy has the means to buy any car he wants! We aren’t positive if Ovechkin is still driving this car, although it would be pretty difficult to miss.  Reportedly, it was put for sale at Motorcars Washington in 2014 for $249,800, so we know he got a few years out of it.

4. Toronto Maple Leafs’ Dion Phaneuf – Bentley

Dion Phaneuf is a car lover. He has said a few times that he has quite the car collection and he enjoys detailing them. On HBO’s 24/7 special that aired on TV in 2013, we saw the Leafs’ captain driving a Bentley. You can’t tell exactly what year and model the car is because you only see the interior of it, but does that even matter? It’s a Bentley. If you already don’t like Phaneuf, there’s another reason to hate him.

3. Dallas Stars’ Tyler Seguin – Maserati Gran Turismo S

In 2012, Cabbie on the Street held a podcast and interviewed Seguin. The Stars’ center told Cabbie about his, new at the time, Maserati Gran Turismo S; all black with matte black paint. On December 8th, 2014, Tyler Seguin posted a photo to his official website of his new customized Jeep, thanking the companies who modified it for him.  It was a brand new matte black Wrangler with floodlights and a grill guard. Although the Jeep is awesome, I’m sure he kept the Maserati.

2. New York Rangers’ Henrik Lundqvist – Lamborghini Gallardo

Arguably one of the best goalies in the league, Lundqvist is also at the top of his game with his car. In 2013, Henrik posted photos on Instagram of his modified gunship grey Lamborghini Gallardo. The best part about his Lambo is that he removed the cursive “Lamborghini” writing on the rear end of the car and replaced it with “Lundqvist.” Henrik most likely still owns this car; I can’t imagine there are many Lundqvists out there that are in the market for a Gallardo.

1. Montreal Canadiens’ PK Subban – Bugatti Veyron

Recently, Vice Sports released a video called, “A Weekend with PK Subban,” where PK announced that he donated $10 million to the Montreal Children’s hospital! In the video, you see him park outside of the hospital in his modest 2016 white Ford Explorer. However, he still knows how to treat himself and enjoy his success. In 2012, PK was photographed with his two-toned black and cherry red Bugatti. The Explorer is probably more practical. Something tells me the Bugatti doesn’t fit all of his equipment.
