Years ago my wife bought a used Pontiac Grand Prix. It was a 'hot' car. It also had every option. The selling dealer said for that reason we should consider an aftermarket warranty. We did so and started the regimen of oil changes every five thousand with the receipt sent to the warranty company by certified mail. It was a bit of a pain but......I was driving the car on the highway when the auto trans gave up. We called CAA and had the car towed to our mechanic. When he called for authorization he was told to send the car to one of 'their' preferred shops. Long story short we got a rebuilt transmission with no question. I don't remember the cost of the warranty but I am sure we came out on top. Kind of a feel good story.
