Trends: Velvet wrap for cars is apparently a thing now
Watch the pros velvet-wrap a Mercedes-Benz CLS 350
The velvet-wrap trend, which started off as a bizarre one-off, is picking up steam and now there are entire companies devoted to velvetizing upscale rides.
The cars are wrapped with specially made film that resists rain, UV rays, mud and other “substances” that would ruin regular velvet.
It’s one of the weirder car-tarting trends out there and appears to attract equal amounts of lust, envy and ridicule. A Velvet Cars video, below, of a Benz being wrapped attracted a fair amount of positive comments, as well as the inevitable “Have fun cleaning the bird sh*t off it,” to which Velvet Cars politely responded: “Velvet Elite Wrap 9100 has been tested and resists any extreme conditions. It is, of course, bird sh*t proof.” (That must have been a fun day in the test lab.)
