Regional Road 18 from outside Orangeville to Wasaga Beach
You don’t want to go too fast in a beautiful restoration like Bob Cram’s turquoise blue ’53 Chevy half-ton at the Cruise Nationals, so a country road heading north from civilization past a provincial park to the tame pleasures of Wasaga should do the trick. You’ve lived a good chunk of life, and most of the bad stuff is behind you now, but a hurting song like George Jones’1962 country hit still has a bit of a sting in the tail, especially since it reminds you of her. Never mind that now, just savour the moment, the sound of that six-cylinder Chevy engine ticking along so nicely in the sun, the sunlight on the newly washed paint, and the thought of a cold beer waiting at the old cottage at the end of the road.
