Toyota tops Consumer Reports brand survey

Toyota continues to be in good standing with car buyers when it comes to brand perception.

The Japanese carmaker ranked first in a car brand perception survey conducted by the Consumer Reports National Research Center.

Ford, Honda, Chevrolet and Mercedes-Benz rounded out the top five brands.

The survey ranked the brands based on consumers’ perceptions in seven categories: Safety, value, performance, quality, design/style, technology/innovation, and environmentally friendly/green.

The scores in each category were tallied to give an overall brand-perception score.

Toyota ranked the highest with an overall score of 133, while Ford came in second with 118.
