Car queue in the bad traffic road. Selective focus.
The Mk VII Volkswagen Golf will be revealed Sept. 4, but Autoblog Canada published a few details about its new features ahead of time.
The Mk VII was rumoured to be much lighter than the Mk VI, the website said, but a graphic that looks like an indication of where high-strength steels are used is captioned with “More comfort. More safety. 100 kg,” meaning an impressive 220-pound drop should be on the way.
Dimensions have grown all around. Overall length is up by 2.2 inches and the wheelbase grows by 2.3 inches. It yields more room for passengers in front and back with a cabin length increased by 0.56 inches. Even with the added girth, fuel economy is said to have improved by as much as 23 per cent.
The available feature set has also grown, with cylinder deactivation, front transverse differential lock, traffic sign and fatigue detection, along with driving profile selection, run-flat tires and a “multicollision brake.”
You can watch a teaser video below in the meantime.
