transportation, future technology and vehicle concept - man using car control panel
Chrysler’s booth at the auto show is brand-spanking new and in many ways it’s representative of where Chrysler has come in the last three years or so.
With increased sales year-over-year for the last 38 months, Chrysler’s future is looking bright, said Bradley Horn.
“We’re back on our feet and the future looks bright and we’ve got a good product,” said Horn, the product communications manager for Chrysler Canada.
And with three new vehicles on display at their booth in the north building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre at the Canadian International Auto Show, it’s sure to draw in attendees.
The visually appealing — and powerful — SRT Viper makes its first Canadian appearance to car lovers at the show, and has become a must-see for many.
Under its carbon-fibre clamshell hood, beneath a new aluminum X-brace is an 8.4 litre, V10 engine that puts out over 600 HP. It can reach 100 km/h in just 3.5 seconds and can cling to corners with over 1.0 g of grip. Oh, and its top speed is 331 km/h. Horn said the car will be the flagship vehicle for the Speed and Racing Technology brand.
“You’re talking about a super car,” Horn said. “The other great thing is the interior that has a luxury refinement to it.”
And for the truck lover, the new Ram 3500 Heavy Duty will be a hot topic. With a towing capacity of 30,000 pounds, the most capacity in its class, “Ram 3500 shows the breadth of our experience and where we are going to take the heavy duty truck,” Horn said. The truck has the capability to tow a dozen Fiat 500s at one time — or 600 cases of beer.
And while they’ve got the beauty and brawn on display at the show, Horn said the show is a chance to remind people of the quality vehicles it offers across a wide-range of needs and styles.
“The Dodge Grand Caravan has been the biggest seller for vans in the world for 29 years,” he said. “We’ve got the flare and the big numbers but also market vehicles that really speaks to Canadians. Overall the company is coming out with a lot more new and exciting vehicles that people can really connect with.”
Chrysler also unveiled its 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 3.0L V6 EcoDiesel engine.
