At wheels.ca we are car enthusiasts at heart with a focus on an automotive lifestyle, and see the automobile as a symbol of freedom.
I can conjure up many fond memories of my trials as a young teen restlessly waiting for my 16th birthday and getting that prized driving license. The first time driving on the road by myself was a revelation, even more so when I finally got my first car.
Like many young kids a rust-bucket was all I could afford, but it nevertheless took my friends and I everywhere our hearts desired. The world was our oyster, and we felt unstoppable. There were road-trips, breakdowns, moments of joy and of anger. There were times when I cursed my car, and times when I felt like hugging it. Some of my best memories come from that era of my life.
It’s this passion that fuels us “car enthusiasts”, and elevates the automobile to much more than just a “mere” conveyance or mechanical object.
Wheels.ca will take a journey back in time and ask our writers to tell us about their first cars and the memories and events that likely shaped who they are today. We will feature a new story every Thursday. #TBT
We would also love to hear your first car experiences. Share them here ([email protected]) and Wheels.ca will actually publish the best ones.
