I must agree with HUH a car is only as good as you can afford ,it would seem the higher on the pay scale you are the better the cars are.
I do not care what the pundits or so called experts say a lexus is a gusied up Toyota.
My beef why do we pay 20% more for a car than everybody else
a Buick made in Oshawa,
A Toyota made in Cambridge or a Honda made in Alliston are cheaper everywhere else but here
Why Oh Why

My experience is that GM cars do not last in the long term. The last new one I bought in 2003 and it was so bad I swore I'd never buy another one. Every GM car I ever bought (3 of them) either had at least one major failure leaving me stranded, or it had a litany of annoying, expensive problems, such as coolant leaks or electronics.

I have cleaned up my seven year old headlight covers using Chrome polish. It is dirt cheap and does an excellent job. Rub on with a damp cloth, rub like the blazes for a few minutes and polish with an old piece of towel.

You've apparently slept through all the embarrassing recalls that Honda and Toyota have been hit with lately? And the fact that the US government is taking action against their habit of not disclosing problems? And GM best of the NA car makers? Hardly, it's a toss up at best, none of them are all that great.

Picking Lexus means absolutely nothing to 97% of the populace who cannot afford to buy one. Why not pick something affordable by John Q. Public? Consumer Reports loses more credibility, and relevance, every day.

You also have to remember that Toyota is now a master at hiding its quality issues. The U.S is proposing a higher penalty for failing to report quality safety problems or recalls as Toyota on average fails to report half a dozen safety problems a year with their vehicles. Beware of TOYOTA!!!

Predictable findings. Chrysler bring up the rear, understandable! I've owed two Dodge vehicles and they were garbage. Never again! I've owned one Ford, another one for the scrape pile. GM is best for North America but remember in the world they are middle of the pack, just like the German cars? Japanese vehicles hold their value longer and have the fewest problems. Pick one that's good on gas and save even more!
