Car queue in the bad traffic road. Selective focus.
While it hasn’t made a huge dent in the sales of the Camry and Accord lines, the Mazda6 has been one of my favourite family haulers for some time now. Having been around since late 2008, the current six is getting a bit long in the tooth and the 2011 model sold fewer than 2,000 units here in Canada. To bring more large sedan shoppers into showrooms, Mazda knows they need to up the visual ante and to that end the third generation six will draw styling cues from the TAKERI concept car. Mazda has released this very short teaser video which gives a brief glimpse into the face of the next Mazda6.
Sexy or not, I hope they bring back the wagon, as the first gen Mazda 6 wagon was one of the most fun and practical shooting brakes ever built!
Is this what the 2015 Mustang will look like?
Speaking of next generation bread and butter cars, Ford is set to unveil the all new 2014 Mustang soon, although not soon enough for some media outlets. The folks at Carscoop enlisted artist Josh Byrnes to create what he thinks the next version of the blue oval’s pony car will look like. Says Byrnes:
The word on the street is that the new pony car will borrow heavily from last year’s Evos concept, so bearing this in mind, I have softened some of lines as well as making them more expressive and sleeker. For example, the scollops in the doors are deeper and rear haunches are more curvaceous to exude a subtle hint of the GT40.
What do you think? Is Byrne’s interpretation of the rumours close to what the actual Stang will look like when we see it in 2014?
Ken Block’s Gymkhana 5 generates massive views, but do you care?
As I write this, it is 7:30 on Monday evening. Ken Block’s Gymkhana 5 video has been live for just over 24 hours. In that short time it has been viewed an incredible 6.6 million times. It has been liked on Facebook over 100,000 times and disliked just 1,361 times. There are close to 16,000 comments.
I know that people in general are watching these extreme driving videos, but we don’t receive a lot of comments about them on wheels.ca so I want to know: What do you think about videos like this? I like them, so I’ll keep sharing, but I want to know if you care!
