a few years back , my parents were visiting the Czech Republic in their rented car parked on a slight hill and went to do their sight seeing (castle or something).
When they returned the car was on the other side of the road, facing the other direction. Luckily there wasn't much traffic on that road.

I don't see ANY car crushed. I see a Toyota that is so light it bounced up over a Honda that it ran into. No crushed cars though.

When parking uphill with a curb Ontario driving schools will tell you to turn your front wheels as if you were driving forward away from the curb. In the case that your car becomes free, your front wheels will back into the curb (hopefully) stopping your car immediately. The picture above shows what happens when you face your front wheels toward the curb.

your not trying to say that the accident in this picture was because they didn't park correctly, are you??? if a car didn't stop the car how would a curb??
This picture is obviously photoshopped! why is there no damage to the rear of the car.....This is just dumb!!!

If it's parked up-hill and you point them towards the curb and the car moves backwards (remember you are parked up-hill, the car will not move forward) the front end will move towards the road while the back end will smash the car behind it. If there is no car behind it the back wheels will eventually catch the curb (or something else) but half your car will be in the middle of the road.

On the other hand, if you point them AWAY from the curb, as the car starts to roll backwards the right front tire will catch the curb immediately and your car will have hardly moved from its spot

@John,

When parking uphill, you want the tires facing away from the curb so that the back of them will catch the curb. Uphill without curbs you would turn them towards the side of the road so that the car will not go into the street.
