do ford sell their ford escape with a cheep and nasty spare that is not compatible with the other 4 wheels tyre as a spare
and falls of the rims on the first bend it comes to it is leathal

Most alternators last the life of the vehicle, not 45000 km.

Be very carefully in buying an escape–the dummies who design it need to be fired. Twice our escape the alternator went DEAD. To replace it costs upwards of $1000. Repair bill not that bothered us most–being stranded middle of nowhere-miles and miles from home. Most alternators go around 45000KM. To replace the alternator–whole exhaust system down. lifting engine, Cutting frame brackets ect ect. Like the old GM cars–change the oil filter–need to unbolt the engine–. Caution–careful where you travel with an escape–keep a bike handy.

It has nothing to do with the dealership, but this is what I was told by the recall hotline and what has happened. I’m just telling you my personal experience and I would refrain calling people’s comments untrue if I was you. Please let me know what the actual escalation process is because this is another question the help line could not answer. I would happily come to a dealership which can help, because as far as my dealer is concerned, they have not yet received parts and or even the repair instructions for this vehicle (they’re one of the top dealers in the GTA). I bought a new2009 Ford Escape & from day 1 (one), had a total, as of today,July 23,2012, had at least 25 problems with the car. Most were fixed under warranty but some were not. Ford Canada and Rey Ford in Belleville Ontario didn’t give a damn for for inconvenience, or my expense or 3 hour travel time for service or time wasted, & all because the car is a LEMON. All my new cars have been Ford, but this may be the last!!! Jack Barrett
