This idiots that have disposable amount of money to pay the premium for electrical or hybrid car are on our backs, the commoners who pay for producing electrical energy and refine the crude oil. I personaly hate the “status” of individuals like that, many of who’s are celebrities…

Note that this picture has been taken in California. California has huge wind farms that produce a lot of electricity. So it’s not a guarantee that the electricity used by this car came from fossil fuels, as the writer claims.

CU OPEC? What about all the petroleum products in the car itself – the rubber on the blades, the tires, the plastic, all the cables have plastic electrical insulation etc. All in addition to the production of electricity to charge the Li batteries which also have a significant environmental impact (mining, processing, shipping etc). The car is a step in the right direction but its not a perfect solution. The owner needs to get down off the pedestal.

You seem to be a bit behind on things: Wind is already the second cheapest and there’s almost no cheap hydroelectric left, costs for both wind and solar are still falling. They also have the some of the highest reliability ratings, (with less than half the downtime of coal or nuclear).

Oh sure, let’s burn more Nuclear fuel to make electricity. After a slow burn the spent fuel rods are radioactive for only 250,000 years??? Duh, that’s dumb? Or we can burn coal / natural gas / garbage. There is always an environmental cost. Wind & solar are expensive and very unreliable….. Don’t point the finger unless you a perfect solution.
