In Toronto/GTA? Absolutely it's ok. We have the least considerate drivers when it comes to parking lot manners. The number of times I've seen people fling their doors open, or leave a shopping cart behind/beside their vehicle when the cart return slot is less than 20 ft away is mind boggling.

I have a BMW 3 series coupe, which is probably 20% of the retail cost of this Aston, but I park that thing well away from others (but have not resorted to this). I've seen R8 and similar vehicles taking two spots in paid lots, and most times two receipts are on the dash.

Your post is hilarious. You would have driven your (insert name of sh**box car here) around looking for a Jag to park beside huh? Looking to teach the guy a lesson huh?

The car in the picture (and in the article) is an Aston Martin. Not a Jag.

"You can safely bet that any sentence that starts with 'I seen' will not be ended with 'the inside of a book' ".

There's a difference between "normal wear and tear" which would be things like paint chips on the nose, and leading edge of fender flares etc, fading of paint and trim etc. There's a significant difference between these things (which I'm willing to accept as part of my car getting older) and dents, scrapes and scratches that are because of people who are careless (in the literal definition of the word) or disrespectful. That is what is at the heart of all of this.

I have a moderately nice car. I want to keep it in good shape. I drive it every day so I accept that over time it will incur some wear and tear. I don't accept that other people will damage it intentionally, or because they just don't give a damn.

I don't blame him at all but personally I'd park further away. I've been a victim of people denting their door on my car. I value my property but no one else seems to in this society. I have close friends that have done a hit-and-run after dinging a door or something similar so even the people who you think are good, are in fact not when it comes to parking in a lot. It's the sad truth.

Years ago I worked in a company where an employee use to park his brand new BMW the same way. We didn't like his stunt so we planned one of our own. One day we parked our cars on both sides of his and very close so he could not exit the spot to go to lunch. Of course we all disappeared for the next 30 minutes while he tried to find the car owners.

I would have backed up my car with the passangers side door mere inches from the jags door on the exact same angle then I would have waited around with my phone in hand and begin to videotape once the owner showed up.

That kind of selfishness deserves to be called out

Fairly easy to see by the poll results, 81% of wheels readers are door dingers that drive junk and 15% drive nice cars.

If it's the last space in the lot, and someone parks like that, I squeeze in beside them. (I have a small car) Tough luck for them for parking like an idiot.
