As sports car fans are pining for any sort of official news regarding the next generation Corvette, due out in 2014, the blogs have been busy posting spy pics of test mules and creating visual impressions of what the next ‘Vette might look like. There has even been speculation that Chevrolet brass have chosen the New York Auto Show as the reveal stage.
Yesterday afternoon it was announced that the unveiling will happen at the North American International Auto Show on January 13th. Once considered the most important North American show of the year, Detroit’s presence has slid in past years, with the shows in New York and L.A. becoming the venues of choice for big reveals. This move shows that The General hopes to bring back some of the Motor City show’s former glory.
To go with the new car, Chevy felt a new emblem was in order. GM’s global design chief, Ed Welburn, unveiled the new logo you see above at Road Atlanta where the Corvette team has won the 2012 American Le Mans Series GT Championship.
