Kathy Renwald touched on this with here December 8 2012 article. She talked about the dog hammock to protect the back seats from hair and slobber which is great! Lets not forget to get a dog seatbelt to protect our loved ones. Maybe you could do a article on what is available. I just use one that looks like a harness and hooks through a standard seatbelt. I wonder if it is adequete though? Has any testing been done?I would love to know! All life is precious in an accident situation!
Thanks
P.S. If this is the wrong dept could you please forward to appropriate one.

Your statement violates the laws of physics: "Slamming on the brakes while driving too fast can also cause the wheels to lock, which propels the car forward out of control. " When the wheels lock, the tires begin to slide* , less energy is consumed by the sliding tires than by rolling tires with the brakes applied.

This is a popular misconception just like "the baseball speeds up when it bounces on artificial turf". It doesn't speed up, it just decellerates at a lower rate. If the statements were in fact true, we would generate electricity using bouncing baseballs and sliding cars instead of burning newspapers, oil, natural gas and Uranium 235.

* As the coefficient of sliding friction is less than the coefficient of static friction.

Well it's good to know the "professional" driving instructor thinks you should move over to the RH lane when you get "nervous" for a change of pace. I can't believe anyone would attempt driving period and not already know all of this information.

'Steer to skid' will confuse the stability control system on the car. For those with such system equips should always steer to where you want your car to go. Any one post winter driving tips should emphasis on this point.

Remind people not to use cruise control in the winter in slippery conditions. If you disengage with your brakes, slow down, and then acidentally hit the reset, rear wheel drive vehicles will go out of control in icy conditions. The back wheels just start flying and can put you into a terrible spin. I know it happened to me. I totalled a chevy Silverado. Seat belt and airbag saved my life.
