The Car: 1970 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler
The Owner: Kieth Carter, Creemore, On.
The Story: Muscle buffs will appreciate the brawniness of this gorgeous 1970 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler, which boasts a 429CJ Ram Air engine and 4-speed transmission.
It’s the pride and joy of owner Kieth Carter of Creemore, Ont., who bought the car 10 years ago and is its proud third owner.
It wasn’t the first time he had fallen under the Spoiler spell.
“I owned a 1971 Spoiler back in its original days in the ’70s, so I’ve been a lover of these cars for many years,” he says.
This one is basically an untouched original, a numbers-correct car painted Competition Gold with black comfort weave interior.
That’s the technical description. The emotional description? Pure pleasure.
“Nothing is more enjoyable that just driving this car with my wife, Martha — the ‘behave yourself’ reminder — and heading out on the backroads around Georgian Bay.”
