The next-generation Mustang GT was caught testing on public roads this week and its V8 still sounds gorgeously throaty, if not better than ever.

Spy shots of the next pony car in heavy camouflage have already leaked out, and on Wednesday sleuths caught a test mule in action and took this video (below).

The test driver tries to outrun them, keeping it just this side of legal, but the photographers on his camouflaged tail were able to catch some very good footage.
And of course, audio.
“The best part is that this isn’t the base V6 model or even one with the expected 2.5-litre turbo four, this is the V8-powered GT,” CarBuzz reports. “There’s no mistaking that engine growl for anything else.”
It’s already known that Ford is planning to improve the engine somewhat in terms of performance and fuel economy, but details are scarce at the moment.
For now, just rejoice in the fact that a V8 will return to the lineup of the new Mustang.
