DETROIT – Authorities say a small fire at Cobo Center has forced an evacuation of thousands of people from the auto show in downtown Detroit.

Fire Department spokeswoman Katrina Butler says the fire was reported Thursday afternoon. No injuries were immediately reported.

North American International Auto Show spokesman Sam Locricchio says an electrical fire at the Audi display forced the evacuation. He says no vehicles were damaged and smoke was being aired out from the building.

Locricchio says the show is expected to reopen later Thursday.

Butler says the cause was under investigation.

The auto show opened to the public Saturday after nearly a week of special access for the media, industry insiders and others. It runs through Sunday.
