DETROIT–Lamborghini on Sunday showed off its new Gallardo LP 560-4 Spyder, a supercharged sports car that sprints to 62 miles per hour in only four seconds.
Boasting a new 5.2-litre V10 with 560 horsepower, the Spyder has a top speed of 201 miles per hour. But it also manages to reduce its fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions by 18 per cent.
Luxury sports cars are never known for their fuel efficiency, but the Spyder provides a respectable 20 miles per gallon on the highway.
Lamborghini president and chief executive Stephan Winkelmann said at the North American International Auto Show that the Italian manufacturer increased unit sales 1 per cent to 2,430 vehicles in 2008.
