Day 9: Revelstoke to Vancouver

In fact, enough with the driving across Canada! We’re done, finito, caput.
As of 2:15 p.m. today, we rolled into Vancouver, drove down to False Creek and turned the car’s ignition off for the last time. The odometer told us we had traveled 6,168 km since leaving Halifax 193 hours earlier.
Our Smart ForTwo, which ran flawlessly for nine straight days, seemed (almost) as glad as we were to reach Vancouver’s city limits.
The day’s run down from Revelstoke, around Lake Shuswap and then through Kamloops, had us climbing some of the steeper grades we had encountered so far. (At 1,244 m above sea level, crossing the Coquihalla Pass is not something I wish on anyone as his or her daily commute.)

Because we had been skirting the larger cities on our route, making our way through Vancouver by way of Chilliwack and Abbotsford, was the first extended urban time in the Smart. And the Mercedes-Benz microcar had company, as Vancouver provided the most sightings of other Smarts in one day with six.
We’re now off to get some rest, and then fly home Saturday morning.
