The article on Scooters was interesting, but didn't go far enough. Forty-nine cc scooters are not all that's out there. Scooters currently range up to 650 cc (my own beloved 2004 Suzuki Burgman 650 is currently the world's largest scooter).
You should have mentioned that the larger scooters make great commuters for those who live outside the city core and use the freeways to get to work or for people like me -- retired -- who like using it for errands and shopping, plus at least two long distant trips a year (three this year).
Also for those of us who like to ride with a group, most motorcycle riding clubs treat scooters as just more motorcycles, which they are. They don't care what you ride so long as you ride. The Brampton Motorcycle Association (BMA) and all chapters of Southern Cruisers Riding Club (SCRC) accept scooter-owning members.

That was not the author's fault; discussion of the larger scooters was edited from his original text to make it fit in the allotted space. -- Ed.
