ME UNDER $50
My vintage race bike, a 1977 GS550, needs a new mount for the steering damper. I'm going to get it custom-made at Adjustment Tech Racing in Peterborough. They have a CNC milling machine and a dyno, so any custom work you ever need done, from my little job up to building a motorcycle practically from scratch, Andy can do. $50, www.adjustmenttech.net.
Motocourse by Michael Scott, is the definitive history of each year of Moto GP racing. Scott's a great writer, and the photos are astounding. List price $60, at bookstores or online.
Four litres of synthetic oil for my street bike. It usually makes any bike shift better and gets to the top of your motor faster on cold startups. I'm not fussy about the make. $20-$70.

I'd like to get in line for a set of the experimental Dainese leathers. The suit has a built-in airbag system around the neck to protect from head and neck injuries in a crash, and Yamaha Moto GP star Jorge Lorenzo has certainly been putting the system to the test (see the video at tiny.cc/Lorenzosuit) the past two seasons! Up to $4,000, Riders Choice, Mississauga.
After my accident in September, I need a new racing helmet. I found my Scorpion as comfortable, cooler and quieter than premium makes. In my crash, the helmet suffered a two-inch crack through the shell behind the eye port, but I didn't even get a headache. One replacement Scorpion EXO-700 helmet for me, please. About $300. www.gtamotorcycle.com.
