Talks to resume between DriveTest and striking examiners

STAFF REPORTER

Talks are set to resume between striking United Steel Workers and DriveTest, the company that manages Ontario's driving examination centres.

The two parties head back to the bargaining table next Wednesday, hoping to end the strike that started Aug 24.

About 40,000 people have not been able to obtain their driver's licence as a result of the strike that has lagged on for two weeks, said Paul Dalglish, a managing director of DriveTest.

About 600 employees of DriveTest are represented by the United Steel Workers.

Driver examiners had previously gone on strike for eight weeks in 2002.
